Taking a Break

This is just a short post to say that I’ll be taking a bit of a break from writing and blogging.

The past 72 hours has been an enormous rollercoaster of emotions. I’m normally a very private person and it’s very hard to write even this small post but here goes. My 9 year old daughter started the week with what we all thought was tonsilitus. Over the past two days that diagnosis changed to something more sinister. She has undergone an emergency tonsillectomy (apologies if I spelt that wrong) which also removed a growth. Initial results indicate Lymphoma. The next week will reveal the type and what our next steps are.

(Update – Final diagnosis is Birkett Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma – we have now started chemotherapy)

It’s time for me to focus my energies on my daughter.

Oh Steve. My family is praying for yours.

I would like to recommend a site to you that assisted me greatly during my husband’s battle with cancer: http://www.caringbridge.org/ It is free and it is a way to post updates in one spot and not have to come home after a long day at the hospital and have to send 10 different emails and make calls to family members. It kept me sane and posting about it was very therapeutic for me.

There are many, many resources out there. Don’t be afraid to reach out to others. I know this is tough when you are a private person but everyone wants to help – they just don’t always know how.

    Virtual hugs to {{{{you}}}}.

    1. Thanks for thinking of me Cheryl. I have to say that this experience with my daughter is life changing. It is the hardest thing that our little family has ever been through, but we are all very close so we help each other out. My daughter’s courage is astounding. I’m so very proud of her.
