Well I’ve finished the final proof read of my first novel ‘Quest One. The Golden Scarab’ and I’ve got to say that every time I read it my heart races as the action unfolds. I hope this same feeling is experienced by anyone who reads it when it’s finished.
I’ve decided that I’m going to publish on Amazon Kindle first to see how it all goes and then give Smashwords a go. I figure it’s best not to put all my eggs in one basket.
Now that the final changes have been done to the story I’ve started to finalize all of the formatting. To help prepare the manuscript for upload I’ve been doing plenty of research on the fundamentals of creating an ebook. It’s essential to make sure that the final book is top quality and meets the guidelines for Kindle and Smashwords. One thing I’ve found is that there are so many opinions out there … I just need to digest them all and make a judgement on what’s best for me.
At the same time I’ve also been working away on designing the book cover and searching for software that allows me to create what I have in my head. I want something that’s impressive and hooks the interest of anyone who sees it. One thing I do know is that I need to find royalty free pics for the cover. I have to say I’ve found a great site called Shutterstock.com which has some absolutely stunning royalty free pictures, so I’m hoping I can find something on there that will really help my book stand out from the crowd.
Anyway, back to it…
I’d love to hear your thoughts about my post … seriously!
