Now for some good news…

This is a quick post to update regular followers on my 9 y/o daughter’s battle with childhood cancer. This past week has been quite a ride for us all. As many of you already know, my daughter was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma in October last year, which is a rare form of aggressive Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma that affects children. Since then she has been on a rollercoaster of surgery and intensive chemotherapy.

Over the past weeks she has undergone a number of scans and tests to gauge the success of her treatment, to determine the next steps.  I’m thrilled to reveal that a couple of days ago doctors have told us that she is now clear of cancer. The chemo has worked its magic, and no more treatment is needed, but we will need to have regular check-ups into the future. This is great news for us, we can now move forward and leave this battle behind us.

Thanks so much to those of you who have left comments or contacted me directly with your good wishes and prayers. It has been a tremendous help to me over these past months to know that there are people all around the world (who I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting personally) who cared about our battle. Thank you.

  4. Oh Steve I am just weeping tears of joy for you. The absolute unthinkable happened, you all stayed strong, especially Maddie and you beat it. That is one huge celebration in your house I am guessing. Wish your family our best, and we will continue to keep you in our prayers so that awful Cancer word is never uttered again.

    1. Awwww, thanks, Julie. It was a tough time that we hope to never go through again. We were the lucky ones, others have a longer battle. We met some wonderful people, who were all going through the same thing. I have so much respect for the parents and I’m astounded at the kids and how they just get on with the job in such an amazing way.
