You would have to have been on another planet to not know of the looming launch of Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge. Opening day for Disneyland in Anaheim is 31 May 2019 and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando on 29 August 2019. These developments by Disney are the biggest and most immersive expansions ever undertaken by Disney. I’m very excited to be going to the one at Disneyland in mid January 2020 (I’m hoping the crowds will have died down a bit by then).
What about that other big park company, Universal? Well, they have their own major new attraction underway. While it’s not a whole land, it’s a sizable expansion of the existing Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. The new Hagrid rollercoaster looks like it’s going to be a winner, with its incredible theming and attention to detail just as amazing and immersive as the existing areas of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle, King’s Cross Station, and Diagon Alley. I’ve visited these areas in Orlando and Los Angeles and they are incredible. Every single detail is enthralling and I could just wander around them for days.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is set in the Forbidden Forest and is due to open on 13 June 2019. The details I have seen are incredible and I wish that my travel early next year could fit it in, but unfortunatley it doesn’t. I hope you enjoy the video, which has been doing the rounds lately to coincide with the launch date announcement. It looks like a truly wonderful addition to the Wizarding World.
