Hi all, remember me. I can’t express how shocked I was when I realised that I haven’t posted anything on here for 6 months. I don’t know how that happened, except for things like day job, Christmas, and travelling the world (I’ll share more about that another day). Let’s hope that I can post a little more frequently in 2020.
The thing that brought me out of my posting coma was the imminent new release of one of my childhood favorites. Finally, it looks like a worthy incarnation of Scooby Doo is on the way.
I remember watching Scooby as a kid and it has stayed as one of my all-time favorites. Cast your mind back a number of years (20ish) to the live-action movies. Or, rather a mix of live-action and CG Scooby. While they weren’t the best movies I’d ever seen, they were entertaining. But now it seems that CG technology has finally reached a point where Scooby can be brought to life in a way that he deserves.
Scoob! is to due for release on 15 May 2020 at a theatre near you. Here’s the synopsis from IMDB.
Scooby and the gang face their most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this dogpocalypse, the gang discovers that Scooby has an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.
It’s not the most revealing synopsis, but from what I’ve seen there’s an element of an ‘origin’ storyline in there about how Scooby and Shaggy first met. The cast includes Mark Wahlberg (Blue Falcon), Amanda Seyfried (Daphne Blake), Zac Efron (Fred Jones), Frank Welker (Scooby-Doo), Will Forte (Shaggy Rogers), Gina Rodriguez (Velma Dinkley), and Jason Isaacs (Dick Dastardly).
Take a look at the trailers and let me know what you think.

The animation looks great, the nostalgia ticks all the boxes, and this is probably a no-brainer for fans. Finally, it looks like there’s a worthy adaptation of this classic. I’m excited.
