My childhood memories of Aquaman are as one of the characters in the Super Friends cartoons. I used to love it. Then, he seemed to fly off my radar. So, to learn that a new movie was coming out starring Aquaman was a complete surprise.
As you can see, looking back at the cartoons he was a very clean-cut, cheesy, all-American dude. So, when I got my first glimpse of the all new Aquaman in the Justice League movie I was initially surprised at how different he was to the cartoon. But the more I saw, the more I understood and agreed with his new ragged unkempt wet look – it makes sense for someone who is at home underwater.
The new Aquaman movie starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren, and Nicole Kidman is due for release 26th December 2018. From what I see in the trailer the movie has some dark tones, which differs to other superhero movies released recently, such as, Antman And The Wasp, and Deadpool 2, both of which have a relaxed light-hearted tone. Some DC fans have questioned whether the darkness is out of date, but I guess we’ll know in December.
Here’s the very brief blurb from IMDB, although it doesn’t really tell us much.
“Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.”
