When I first saw the trailer for Spies in Disguise, I thought, Where did this come from?
It’s one of those movies that I’d never heard of that just popped up out of nowhere.I’m a huge fan of CG animation. It’s an awesome artform that can become compelling and funny if it’s done well. Top of the tree for this is Pixar – they lead everyone else with their creativity and perfection.
So … looking on IMBD there isn’t a lot of information about this one …

Wow … that’s brief. But with a bit more digging I found out that the main characters are voiced by Karen Gillan, Will Smith, Tom Holland . I also found the movie’s Facebook page (here) where the movie is better described.
“Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not. But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions.

Now, that sounds like an interesting tale. Spies in Disguise is scheduled for release in September 2019.
My Verdict: A bit quirky. Visually fun. Full of promise.
UPDATE 2020 – After watching it – Mnah! It’s all about Will Smith being Will Smith – maybe his fans will like it.
