NEWSFLASH – IN EARLY 2021 NETFLIX PURCHASED THIS MOVIE AND IT WILL BE RELEASED LATER IN 2021 UNDER THE NEW NAME OF … THE MITCHELLS vs THE MACHINES.
THE MITCHELLS VS THE MACHINES (Previously CONNECTED) is the latest offering from Sony Pictures Animation. It’s a tale of the modern world and the challenges we all face with technology. In a time where staying connected has become as important to our lives as air, the movie’s core plot-line explores how technology is taking over.
This isn’t really a new theme, I’ve seen the same thing many times over the years. But the most obvious difference I see in this trailer is how it nails the hold that tech already has on us. Think about how much you rely on it each day. Over time, it’s become your main source of information, it’s replaced your memory for everything from shopping lists to phone numbers, birthdays, anniversaries, and facts. And if you’re honest with yourself, I bet you can’t put away your phone or tablet for a minute, maybe an hour, or even a day. There’s a price we all pay for the benefits it gives.
And so, if you’re keen to see what becomes of the connected world, join the Mitchells as they embark on a what looks to be a madcap roadtrip that’s packed full of battles. It’s the Mitchells vs Mitchells vs tech vs roadtrip. For some reason it reminds me of the song, Holiday Road, (anyone else know what I mean?).

As a huge fan of CG movies, I’m blown away by the animation in this one. I can’t put my my finger on what gives it a look that’s so different to other CG movies, but I love the fresh new style they have used. I have huge respect for the artists who create them, continually pushing the envelope to find new ways to improve something that already seems perfect.
I know you’re really here to see the trailer, so here’s the synopsis from IMDb to set you on your way. Enjoy!
Katie Mitchell is accepted into the film school of her dreams. Her whole family drives Katie to school together when their plans are interrupted by a tech uprising. The Mitchells will have to work together to save the world.
Release Date: (23 October 2020) Resheduled to later in 2021
Cast: Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Michael Rianda

From what I’ve seen and read about this, it looks like fun. The animation style looks incredible and the characters familiar and enticing.
