Welcome to my monthly rap. In this edition we have the latest news and offers for my great range of books, plus some mini reviews of Divergent, and Escape From Mr Lemoncello’s Library.
Very quiet on the Quest front. I haven’t done anything at all with this series, but getting back into reviewing and editing The Missing Link (#4) is definitely on my radar.
In the meantime, I am giving away a paperback copy of The Golden Scarab. For more info check out the Offers section of this rap.
Anyone who would like to put their name forward to receive an Advance Review Copy (ARC) of The Missing Link (#4) to post a review at release time, please mention it in a comment below or get in touch via the Contact Me page.
TIME SQUARE SERIES
During the past month I submitted TIME SQUARE | THE SHIFT to BookBub, but unfortunately I missed out on being selected as a BookBub Featured Deal. It’s the first time I’ve tried for any of my books and I know it’s very hard to be selected. I’ll give it another go at a future date.
I’ve also decided that for a limited time I will offer free copies of TIME SQUARE | THE SHIFT as an incentive to build my likers on Facebook. I think it’s about time that I made better use of Facebook (something I’ve held back from in the past). So, let’s hope that this offer helps get my books into the hands of even more readers.

Writing has continued on SUBWAY | PALLIATOPIA and I’ve finally reached the last few chapters. It’s an exciting part of the book as I try to put the amazing climax that I’ve envisioned and built towards into words. Draft one should be complete very soon, then it’s onto reviewing and editing.
I’m also full-steam ahead on the cover design and hope to share it, along with the blurb, in the near future. Here’s a sneak peek at a couple of early drafts of the title branding.

Young Adult | Dystopian | SciFi
Released 3 May 2011
Divergent is a story about stereotypes and of people being put into a particular category. As there is such a wide range of opinions in reviews on Goodreads, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The early part of this book reminded me of Hunger Games, but I felt it was quite bland and blunt. I started to lose interest, but it did improve.
I was halfway through the book before I realized that I was invested in the story. It always kept me guessing and wondering what was simulation and what wasn’t. There were some pockets of violence, which I must say I found horrible and sickening.
In a Nutshell | Overall, I enjoyed it, the second half more so than first. Should I move on to book 2? I’m still deciding.
Middle Grade | Fiction
Released 25 March 2015
An interesting story that reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I do like the underlying idea, but the tone of the writing was aimed at a younger audience than I expected. I think this impacted my enjoyment.
Overall, this one didn’t really do it for me, I found it quite boring and skimmed in places (very unusual for me) with a goal of getting to the end as quickly as possible. I actually escaped the library at 63% (sorry:)
In a Nutshell | Not my cup of tea, but it has plenty of fans.

WIN a paperback copy of THE GOLDEN SCARAB
It’s been a couple of years since I gave away a paperback edition of a Quest book, so I thought it was about time to do it again. I’m running a giveaway on Goodreads for the next couple of months.
Here’s a Disney reboot of Pete’s Dragon that comes out later this year. Who remembers the original?
